  • Pattern recognition

AGE: 3 – 4 Years Old

TIME: 10 Mins

CATEGORY: Logic, Patterns

  • Colored paper
  • Markers

On several note cards, draw ice cream cones with scoops of ice cream in various patterns (ie: chocolate, strawberry, chocolate, strawberry).
Cut out larger versions of the different ice cream flavors drawn on the notecards earlier. Cut out a cone, too!
Ask your child to select a note card with an ice cream scoop pattern.
Support them as they work to describe and copy the pattern on the note card using the paper ice cream scoops.

  • During the activity, discuss how each flavor tastes like to help expand their vocabulary and verbal skills.
  • When you feel comfortable that your child is able to copy the ice cream pattern, ask if they can continue it!
