Directional art activities, like this one, are designed to give children practice following directions. This activity is great for refining your child’s motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Making the bee helps them practice advanced motor skills such as twisting and bending the pipe cleaners, and pasting small objects onto the bee.

MATERIALS:
- Pipe cleaners
- Pom poms
- Glue
- Wooden block
- Other art materials to decorate their bees! (Googly eyes, Markers, Sequins, etc.)
INSTRUCTIONS

Use the black and yellow pom poms to create the body of the bee and use the wooden block as a base.

Add wings to the bee using the pipe cleaners and sticking them into the pom poms. Wrap the ends of the pipe cleaners around the block to secure the wings.

Glue the googly eyes and other features on to the bee with your other craft materials.

TIPS- Children process instruction by hearing it (auditory perception), understanding the meaning of the words (auditory comprehension), and then interpreting them into actions.
- Instructions should be simple and given one at a time, making sure they have ample time to process it.
