If you give a kid a cookie…. it can support their counting and number recognition skills!

AGE: 3.5 – 4.5 Years Old

TIME: 10 Mins

CATEGORY: Numeracy, Motor Skills

MATERIALS:

  • Colored paper
  • Markers
  • Glue/Tape

INSTRUCTIONS

Draw a large cookie jar on a piece of paper with ten small cookie-shaped circles drawn on the inside of the jar.

Label the circles from 1-10.

Cut out 10 small cookie shapes from a seperate piece of paper.

Draw “chocolate chips” on the cookies. Each cookie should have a different number of chips, numbering 1-10.

Ask your child to count the number of chocolate chips on each cookie and then paste them on the circle in the cookie jar with the corresponding number!

TIPS
  • Let them decorate the cookie jar using fun sensory materials like pom poms and felt.
  • Have your child help make the cut-outs of the cookies to practice their fine motor skills.
