Alphabet Book

#LearningByDearest

Create an Alphabet Book with your child! Actions such as picking up the cut-outs, applying glue, and pasting are great ways for your toddler to practice their fine motor skills.

LEARNING GOALS:

  • Letter recognition
  • Fine motor practice

AGE: 1.5 – 3 Years Old

TIME: 30 Mins

CATEGORY: Literacy, Motor Skills

MATERIALS:

  • Colored Paper
  • Tape/Glue
  • String

INSTRUCTIONS

1
Make cut-outs of the letters of the alphabet using different colored paper.
2
Using another set of colored paper, cut some squares. These will serve as the pages of your book. Punch holes on one side so you can put all of them together in the end.
3
With the letter cut-outs, trace the outline of each letter on the squares.
4
Have your child match the letters to the pages and paste them. Practice aligning the letters with the outline!
5
Once you’ve finished the pages from A to Z, you can put it all together with yarn!

!

TIPS
  • Teach them about colors while making this book too!
  • You can use some stickers to reinforce the letters! (E.g. A sticker of an apple will go to the page with the letter ‘A’)
